Transfer of Credit to IAA
Students who formerly attended a post-secondary institution accredited by an agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be granted transfer credit for equivalent courses taken at the previous institution. Students must submit a Request for Transfer Credit as soon as possible after being enrolled at IAA; in addition, students are responsible for having official transcript(s) from their previous institution forwarded to the Registrar’s Office at IAA. Both the Request for Transfer Credit and official transcripts must be received at IAA as soon as possible after the student has been enrolled, and prior to the beginning of any class for which the Transfer Credit is being requested. Awarding of Transfer Credit is at the sole discretion of IAA.
IAA will determine if the course(s) completed at the previous institution are sufficiently equivalent to the course(s) in the student’s program of study at IAA. Only passing grades of “C” or better will be taken into consideration. Factors IAA will use in determining whether Transfer Credit will be awarded include – but are not limited to – objectives and description of the previous course, length of time passed since the course was completed, and the level of the previous course. To ensure an adequate and fair assessment may be made, students may be required to provide IAA with a course catalog from the previous institution.
Transfer Credit will show on the student’s IAA transcript with a grade of “TC” at the discretion of the department head and Dean of Academic Affairs.
Transfer of Units to Other Institutions
IAA programs and certificates are employer sponsored and are not accredited by any national, regional or state accrediting organization. Units earned at IAA are transferable to other post-secondary education institutions at the discretion of the receiving institution.
